Confusion abounds for retirement investors.  World economies are on the verge of falling into the abyss.  Dark clouds are on the horizon.  And, at home in the U.S., the stock market gyrates wildly.

In early October, an incident on Wall Street scared the daylights out of everybody.  According to Reuters News Service “in less than one hour the stock market surged by 4 percent — for no apparent reason.  It occurred at a speed that frightens many, from experienced hedge-fund managers to mom-and-pop investors, and it’s a big reason many are staying away from the market”.

Stock Market Decline 2011

Have the stock market declines caught you off guard? They shouldn’t have. After all the only thing that has kept the market going up in the last year is government stimulus money and the “herd mentality” that I talked about in my last blog.

Now that the debt ceiling talks are over and there’s no good news to be found anywhere, the traders on Wall Street are backing off and the smart money is looking elsewhere to invest. As of this moment, 08/04/11, the Dow is down 513 points.

Real Estate Investing – 2011 Mid-Year Update

Rental HomeInvestors are now finally starting to see the opportunity in the distressed housing market.

According to the Cogent Research “Investors in Action” report, of the 25% of Americans who have assets sitting in former employers’ retirement plans, about half (42%) said they are likely to roll over the assets into an IRA sometime within the next year. That group has approximately $350 billion in assets ready to shift.
