IRA Wealth LLC dba Safeguard Financial and IRA123.com is a Self Directed IRA Advisor & Facilitator. Our primary focus is: 1) setup of a Checkbook IRA, Real Estate IRA LLC or Sole-Proprietor 401(k) for passive investing and 2) structuring of a Business Funding pension plan facilitating use of retirement funds for ownership and operation of a small business or franchise.

History

In 2003, the Founder of the company, Robert Hubbard, was offered an opportunity to make an investment into an international healthcare recruitment company located in Manila, The Philippines. Onboard a flight to Manila to review the company’s operations, he read a brief article that made reference to using retirement funds to make these types of investments.

Upon his return to the U.S., he consulted with his CPA regarding the possibility of using an IRA to purchase the stock of a private company. The CPA was convinced that retirement funds could only be invested with a bank or into the stock market, and was unwilling to spend the time to research the issue.

But, after a thorough investigation of the facts, and networking with knowledgeable legal and tax professionals, Mr. Hubbard succeeded in using retirement funds to make the investment.

This process was the genesis of creating a company (in 2005) dedicated to helping other retirement investors gain access to “non-traditional” assets to be held in their retirement investment portfolios.

Robert Hubbard, Managing Director & Senior Advisor

Mr. Hubbard is uniquely qualified to lead Safeguard Financial.  His career spans more than 30 years as a Corporate Executive for an international healthcare company, a Small Business Entrepreneur and a Business & Financial Services Advisor and Consultant.  He also holds a Real Estate Broker’s license and has been a Real Estate investor throughout his career.

Mark Huglin, JD | Ll.M (Taxation) | CPA | Legal & Tax Consultant

A principal in the law firm of Draneas & Huglin, PC, Mr. Huglin provides the IRA LLC and Sole-Proprietor 401(k) structuring for Safeguard Financial. His practice focuses on taxation, estate planning and administration, formation of limited liability companies and corporations, ERISA, qualified and non-qualified retirement plans, general business and real estate. Mr. Huglin holds an advanced degree in tax law and is also a Certified Public Accountant.

Leonard Fischer, Esq. | Legal Consultant

Mr. Fischer provides the Business Funding pension plan for Safeguard Financial. His professional life has focused on employee benefits and retirement plans. He has more than 45 years experience as a consultant in this field and as an attorney specializing in the Employee Retirement Income Security Act of 1974 (ERISA) and other laws dealing with qualified retirement plans.

Articles written by Mr. Fischer have been published in many magazines and legal journals. He is “the” acknowledged expert in providing the legal structure that allows individuals to utilize retirement funds for working or start up capital for a small business.

Brian Eastman, Senior Advisor

Mr. Eastman offers a wealth of experience as an entrepreneur, real estate investor and corporate trainer in his role as a Senior Advisor with our firm.  His in-depth knowledge of Self Directed IRA investing, breadth of real world experience, and ability to clearly communicate the ins and outs of retirement investing in plain English, make him a valuable resource to our clients.
